Diety of the Holy Spirit

Part IV: The Purpose of the Holy Spirit/Holy Ghost: Deity of the Holy Spirit”

Part IV: The Purpose of the Holy Spirit/Holy Ghost

Father, Son, and Holy Ghost: Deity of the Holy Spirit

When we are baptized in the Holy Ghost, we are united to Christ as a believer. The Spirit of God comes to take his abode within us.  Just as Jesus promised, he the Holy Spirit will dwell within as our Comforter giving us power to become Sons and Daughters of God.

Our Heavenly Father, God, is a part of our life today.  His Son, Jesus, our Savior is a part of our life today.  The Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit is a part of our life today.

What does the Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit do in our life today?

The Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost are equal in nature, but their relationship and role are distinct.  The Father is willing, the Son is accomplishing the will of the Father, and the Holy Spirit applies the work of the Son.  The Holy Spirit always glorifies Christ.

Matthew 28:18-20 (KJV)

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen

Matthew 3:13-17 (KJV)

13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Romans 8:9 (KJV)

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

1 Corinthians 12:4-6 (KJV)

Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.

And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

2 Corinthians 13:14 (KJV)

14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

Ephesians 4:4-6 (KJV)

There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

1 Peter 1:2 (KJV)

Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

Revelation 1:4-6 (KJV)

John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Too many times, people make excuses for not being obedient to the teachings of Christ. People often say and believe they cannot live their life as scripture requires.  That is true if you do not have the Spirit of God dwelling in you.  After you have repented of your sins and you are born again of the water and the Spirit, you receive power to live a holy and righteous life just like Jesus lived.  Too many times people assume Jesus’s holiness and power to preach the gospel was because of his divine nature.  But, in reality it was the work of the Holy Spirit in his humanity.  Jesus was empowered by the Holy Ghost.  As you study the scriptures above in this lesson and continue to study the subject of the, “Holy Ghost” you will learn of the Holy Spirit’s power to empower you as Jesus said, “you will be endued with power from on high” Luke 24:48-50, which is the power of the Holy Ghost.

Remember, Jesus famous quote from Isaiah,

“Luke 4:17-19 (KJV)

17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

It was the anointing of the Holy Spirit that enabled Jesus to have such a powerful ministry.  We can also see the Apostles ministered in great boldness and power after receiving the Holy Ghost read Acts chapters 1-3, and then continue to study the entire book of Acts.   Because of the power of the Holy Ghost the apostles and many Christians were able to go through many trials, great tribulation and persecutions.

You can have this power, simply repent, be baptized and be born again and it is promised to you: Acts 2:38-39; John 3:3, 5-8; John 14:15-17, 26.

Jesus is the baptizer of the Holy Ghost and he will also baptize with hell fire. (Matthew 3:11-12; Acts 1:4-8)

 Luke 24:48-50 (KJV)

48 And ye are witnesses of these things.

49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

50 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.

Heavenly Father, we bow in Your Presence.   Give us godly sorrow to repentance.  Fill us with your Holy Spirit.  Help us to allow him to lead and guide us into all truth and righteousness.  We thank you Jesus for our wonderful Comforter.

 In Jesus name.  Amen.
