Restore in the Spirit of Meekness Study Guide Part I

Restore in the Spirit of Meekness Study Guide Part I

“Restore in the Spirit of Meekness, considering thyself.”
Galatians 6:1
When someone sins against you or God, the scripture tells us, “If a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. (Galatians 6:1)
The bible teaches us:
  • Search the scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.  John 5:39

  • Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.  II Timothy 2:15

  • Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves.  Know ye not you own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in your, except ye be reprobates? 2 Corinthians 13:5
It is vitally important to your salvation that you take time to study the word, search the scriptures, and examine yourselves by the Holy Scriptures.  The Holy Scriptures contain Eternal Life. Pray before you study the Word and pray during your study, then listen to what God has to say. The Holy Spirit/Holy Ghost will guide you in your study.
As you study Galatians 6:1 look at the scripture points:
  1. Overtaken in a fault
  2. Ye which are spiritual

  3. Restore such a one
  4. In the spirit of meekness

  5. Considering thyself

  6. Lest thou also be tempted

We can be tempted in various ways:
Write out the scriptures that God has given you in the areas of temptation listed below.
  1. Tempted meaning proved by God:
  2. Tempted by the Devil:
  3.  Tempted by Your Own Self:

  1. We can tempt God:

    1. Matt. 4:5-7; Ps. 78:17-19
  B. What is the fear of the Lord?  Prov. 9:10
    1. According to Prov. 8:13  The fear of the Lord is to:

Ye which are spiritual: (read) Gal. 5:16, 22-25:

Restore such a one in the spirit of meekness/Spirit of Christ (Mt. 11:28-30):  How do I do that?

Restore in the Spirit of Meekness - Part III

Restore in the Spirit of Meekness Part III

We cannot restore someone overtaken in a fault when we are full of evil.   Consider this; we don’t know what temptation lies at the door in our future.  To restore one overtaken in a fault, we must have the fear of the Lord abiding in us.
Define: evil

Prov. 23:17 …but be thou in the fear of the Lord all the day long. Prov. 19:23  The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied …Prov. 15:33 The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom… What is wisdom? “Skill in living.”

Now that you have considered yourself, lest you be tempted, only if you are spiritual can you restore.

Ye which are spiritual: (read) Gal. 5:16, 22-25: One that walks in the Spirit that does not fulfill the lust or works of the flesh that have crucified the flesh with the affections and lust and have manifested the fruit of the Spirit.  You are now spiritual when you walk and live in the Spirit bearing the fruit of the Spirit.

Restore such a one in the spirit of meekness/Spirit of Christ (Mt. 11:28-30):  How do I do that?

Colossians 3:12-13  Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. Manifest Love according to I Corinthians 13. You are putting on Christ. Transformed mind.

Paul beseeches us that we walk worthy of the vocation wherewith we are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;  Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:1-3

I Tim. 6:11-12follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. (We are following the Holy Spirit, which is Christ.)

2 Tim. 2:24-26  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. (Quote Gal. 6:1)

Prayer:  For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.  Psalm 86:5

Restore in the Spirit of Meekness - Part II

Restore in the Spirit of Meekness Part II

I’m still talking about, “Restoring in the Spirit of Meekness”.  But, before you can do that, you must consider yourself by taking a good look at yourself through the mirror of the Holy Scriptures”.

I’m going to explain this scripture from the end all the way back to the beginning.

We can be tempted in various ways:

  1. Tempted meaning proved by God: find yourself being tried and proved by God to see whether or not you will fulfill righteousness and obedience to the scriptures.  (Genesis 22:1-3 God did tempt Abraham to offer up Isaac) (Job: tried, tempted and proved:  Satan tempted Job for evil, God proved Job for good)

  2. Tempted by the Devil: who desires to ensnare you into sin by appeasing your lust: lust of your eye, lust of your flesh, or pride of your life, which is all the love of the world and not of God. (I John 2:16). (Matthew 4:1-11 Jesus tempted by the Devil)(2 Tim. 2:15)

  3. Tempted by Your Own Self:  we are tempted when we are drawn away of our own lust and enticed.
James 1:13-15 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
(Saul tempted by himself fearing the people: pride) (Jonah tempted by himself: pride)
(Explain the difference with God proving someone verse tempted with evil.)

The bible tells us to examine ourselves: 2 Corinthians 13:5 read

Before we can restore someone over taken in a sin, we have to consider ourselves and clean our defiled hearts:

Mark 7:20-25    And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:   All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. Matthew’s account adds a false witness.15:18-20 (Beam and mote in the eye.)

We have to crucify the works of the flesh Galatians 5:16-21, 26

Now God told me to add this part:  He said my people do not fear me, they have come very close to tempting me. Teach my people to not tempt me. DO NOT TEMPT GOD!

  1.  We can tempt God:  We can provoke God by sinning. Matt. 4:5-7; Ps. 78:17-19

Prov. 9:10  The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.    What is the fear of the Lord?

Prov. 8:13  The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.  Do Not Tempt God.
