Restore in the Spirit of Meekness - Part I

Restore in the Spirit of Meekness Part I

Restore in the Spirit of Meekness

Galatians 6:1

Assignment:

·        Read the Book of Galatians

·        Study Chapter 6 of Galatians

As Christians we all go through hurts, pains, betrayals, broken commitments, experiences of unfaithfulness, misunderstandings and people sinning against us and knowledge of people sinning against God. Sometimes we know of someone’s sin or transgression, and it causes us to be hurt or resentful.  This can bring unforgiveness in our hearts if we are not careful.  The bible tells us to, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” (Prov. 4:23)

When someone sins against you or God, the scripture tells us, “If a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. (Galatians 6:1)

Today the Word of God is, “Restore in the Spirit of Meekness, considering Thyself.”

Too many times when someone has committed sin against us or directly against God, we fail to consider ourselves, asking how we would want to be treated in that situation or a similar situation.  We fail to restore the one overtaken in the fault (sin).  We fail to manifest the spirit of meekness.

Let’s look at the scripture points in Gal.6:1(read)

  1. Overtaken in a fault is a transgression of God’s law, whether the sin is against you or God himself.

  2. Ye which are spiritual are those who have been born again of the water and the Spirit; and the Spirit of truth is leading and guiding you into all truth and righteousness; you are walking and living in the Spirit manifesting the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. (Galatians 5:1-18, 22-25)

  3. Restore such a one  is to bring that person back to Christ through reconciliation.  This is the responsibility of the church, we are the church.  We are the body of Christ. Jesus reconciled us back to God.  We are to reconcile each other back to Christ through love.

  4. In the spirit of meekness which is the same gentleness and concern Christ showed for us: when he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: Isaiah 53:5.

  5. Considering thyself when restoring the person who has fallen into transgression, think about how you would want the church or people in general to treat you. Think about your own faults, your own temptations, your own sins, your own shortcomings, your own secret sins, your secret sinful thoughts, your secret sinful desires, that no one knows about, except God.  If you’re not a Christian this word is for you too.  Christian or non-Christian, we all have to repent of any and all sins, whether they are known and exposed or not.  Repentance is a way of life not a one-time thing.

  6. Considering thyself:  Remember the golden rule: Luke 6:31: And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. Matthew’s account: Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets:  Matthew 7:12

  7. Lest thou also be tempted:  it means temptations to commit sin. You can find yourself in a similar situation as the one that has been overtaken in a fault/sin.

Introduction to Galatians 6:1-2 (KJV) Bible Study

Welcome to Galatians 6:1-2 (KJV) two-Part Bible Study entitled:

1.     Restore in the Spirit of Meekness Considering Thyself - Galatians 6:1

2.     Bear One Another's Burdens - Galatians 6:2

Galatians is an Epistle of Paul the Apostle.  Paul and his missionary team started the Church of Galatia (North) during his second missionary journey.  Since Paul had led the Galatians to Christ they had a good start to their new Christian life.  Later some Jewish teachers called Judaizers, who rejected salvation and belief in Christ, started teaching that they must obey the Mosaic Law: circumcision, which hindered their obedience to the gospel.

Paul had to expose the error of the Judaizers' gospel and their impure motives.  He encouraged the Galatians to retain their spiritual freedom in Christ.  The central theme for the Book of Galatians is, "justification by God's grace through faith".  Paul defends the gospel of salvation of Christ: A man is justified (saved) not by keeping the law, but by God's grace through the atonement of Christ death.  Then Paul preaches about the various areas of daily living, which we will study two verses of scripture in this study: Galatians 6:1-2.

This study has been written from two teachings delivered to a church in Austin, Texas under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, by Evangelist Waters.  May this study bless you as much as it blessed the listeners who attended the live teachings.
